Texians (Tex ee uns) fought to free the Republic from Santa Ana’s army and Mexico’s claim on the territory. Many Texians, then and now, were ancestors of the Spanish mission communities established in the territory early in Spain’s incursion into the Americas. The Texian Farm in Hockley, Texas proudly represents the spirit and ancestry of traditional Texians. A working farm and loving homestead, it hosts a gorgeous two-story Texian themed log cabin as an Air BnB. The creative talent of Scarlett Sedillo is origin of the fiber blends and colorways of the Texian Farm Creations yarn for My Fine Yarn.
True to the heart of My Fine Yarn, Texian Farm blends are sourced responsibly, milled locally, and seek to support all involved in the production of fiber from community well-being, humane animal care and preservation, and ecologically sound, sustainable agriculture.
Signature Alpaca Blend: This yarn is blended to make alpaca hold its shape, rather than elongating too much, after a garment is hand-made. Cashmere and silk blended with the finest alpaca result in a yarn worthy of the crafter’s time and treasure. Soft, lustrous and now blended for long term wearability, this is the Alpaca you will crave.
Signature DK is sourced from mills in the UK
Signature Worsted is sourced more locally:
Marlin Farms Fiber Mill: A family-owned fiber mill located in Natalia, Texas spins most of our Signature Alpaca Blend yarn. Focused on family lifestyle and sustainability for Texas fleece animals, we are proud to present their fibers and yarn. Jas and Austin Marlin founded the American Fleece Buyers Association, a 501c3 charity to support fleece herders by creating markets and resources for small herd owners, especially those at risk of extinction.
Legacy Alpacas in Maypearl, Texas produces a long royal alpaca fiber. The fleeces are some of the finest available not just in the USA but in the world. The award-winning alpacas are lovingly, sustainably cared for while supporting the great Texas ranch lifestyle. Our cream, fawn and brown come from this treasure of Texas alpaca ranches.
Hummers Homestead Alpacas in McDade, Texas produce the silver and dark grey fleeces of equal brilliance. We rarely dye this beautiful royal alpaca fiber because it is so sought after as a natural color. The length and softness of this fiber is unequaled! Pampered alpacas produce the very best fiber!
Pangong Craft Center, Ladakh, India, is the only cashmere center in the High Himalayas dedicated to supporting a semi-nomadic community of 120 families, living at 14,500'. Globally renown cashmere, our fiber is harvested from the Changtang Valley where the goats are sustainably raised and produce exceptionally fine cashmere. The United Nations General Assembly has declared 2025 the International Year of Glaciers’ Preservation. Rapidly melting glaciers endanger not only the environment, but also the indigenous populations who depend on them for their social and economic survival. The nomadic herders in Ladakh, India, along with other communities throughout glacial regions around the world, are feeling the impact of vanishing water supplies that support their crops and fiber-producing animals. We use this glacier cashmere to produce our Signature alpaca blend to support this ecologically vital community.
Muezart, Meghalaya, India: Committed to making a long-term difference in the lives of weavers and their families, this sustainable, ethical business was developed to provide “Profit with Purpose.” Located in northeast India in the foothills of the Himalayas, families thrive by creating fiber, yarn and textiles from the wild, P. Ricini moth. Eri silk is called “Peace silk” due to the cocoons being gathered and boiled after the moth has hatched. “We’re a small but passionate two-woman team on a mission to make Eri silk known to the world—one skein at a time. Through yarn, workshops, and storytelling, we celebrate this slow, soulful fiber and the people behind it.”
